Review: The Rins’ video/single “Lover Lover” – Release date April 30, 2024
The newest single “Lover Lover” from Boston-based Ska band The Rins features a melodramatic dark-humor vibe you won’t want to miss. For anyone who enjoys the occasional reggae vibe mixed with a Wednesday Addams twist, you’ll love the edge-y bass-line layered up against the intriguing wind-instrument backdrop.
In a realm somewhere between a liquor-laden stupor and a villainous anthem, this song describes un-aliving a cheating partner even though the speaker “loved him a lot”. While it’s probably safe to say the band isn’t recommending this advice for real-life, this storyline would be the perfect soundtrack for a murder mystery novel. The off-beat prominence and velvet-y vocals make this tune the perfect vehicle to transport listeners directly to somewhere tropical — so don’t hesitate to check out this new song by the Rins for a perfect getaway (as long as you don’t take the advice literally).
