Def Leppard has garnered a prestigious nomination for the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This marks their first inclusion on the ballot. The 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for March 29, 2019 in Brooklyn, NY at Barclays Center. In addition to engaging a voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry, fans may participate in the process by logging in and casting votes on rockhall.com. Fan voting goes live October 9 through 11:59pm ET December 9, 2018. The top five artists, voted by the public, comprise a “fans’ ballot” counted along with other ballots to choose the 2019 inductees. With sales eclipsing 100 million albums and a reputation as one of rock’s most enduring and influential bands, this represents yet another massive milestone for the legendary British rock icons.
About the nomination, frontman Joe Elliott said, “We’re honored and humbled to be nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This is the highest peak a rock band can summit. For us to be recognized by the prestigious panel and rock fans, who also have a vote, is sensational. Def Leppard being considered amongst such a worthy class of 2019 nominees gives us an indescribable feeling of pride…mutually shared between myself and my band mates. We hope to see everyone at the ceremony!”
Following the close of their historic 2018 co-headline stadium and arena run in North America, Def Leppard sold a staggering 1,000,000 tickets and the tour grossed over $100,000,000.00, a massive feat in today’s touring world.
Def Leppard are: Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick “Sav” Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums)
