The Ritz Ybor, Tampa, Florida was packed in the early evening on Saturday. The Aquabats Cadet Faction were in full force wearing blue spandex shirts and eye masks. The line at the merch table was a mile long as they piled up on buttons, t-shirts, and even children’s clothing. The band’s shows have long been family friendly since many either grown up with the Super Show! series which ran on The Hub Network between 2012 and 2014–or have caught the re-runs on Youtube.

Having missed the band Left Alone, which began the show at 6:30 p.m., I was able to catch the second song of California reggae band The Aggrolites. They put on a very energetic show with lots of singalongs and call-and-responses from the audience. The room of folks were very familiar with their catalog since the band has been on the scene since the early Millennium.
The Aquabats! came out with full force singing “Shark Fighter.” Lots of inflatable sharks bounced around in the audience as the room became a beach volleyball party. The band was as energetic as ever, singing lots of old favorites as well as new songs from their 8th studio album Finally! It was a crazy, standing room only night of fun with everyone’s favorite party band. It felt like the Warped tour all over again!
I grew up in a household full of rock music, studied journalism in college, and then became a scientist.Although my science career has served me well, music has always played a major role in my life. I grew up reading "Creem" magazine; I play several musical instruments as a "hobby";and it seems a camera has always been in my hand. Now, I am combining what I love the most--music and photography--serving as editor of Rock At Night. I travel between the US and UK seeking my dream! My motto: life is short...no regrets. Chyrisse
