Dwellings

Dwellings opened while the sun was still up. By the way, if you want up to date info on the band, you’ll do better on their Linktree site or Facebook; their website is behind the times! I guess that’s what happens when you’re a bunch of rising stars! Info on the band is pretty scarce: “Dwellings is a 5-piece rock band from Sacramento, California. Drawing inspiration from Circa Survive, The Mars Volta and Dance Gavin Dance, Dwellings has developed their own unique sound. The members are Isaac (Wilson, vocals), Thomas, Erik, Marco, and Marx. Their debut album “Lavender Town” was released on Tragic Hero Records followed up by their single “Pick Up Before You Go”. In 2023, the band has put out three new electric singles, “Devices”, “Waypoints”, and “It’s All There”! Their sophomore album, Little Garden, released on June 30th, 2023. As of May 2025 they are signed to Equal Vision Records.” (from last.fm) Judging by the crowd response, they have new fans in the Tampa Bay area!

Belmont – airborne!
Belmont

Next up was Belmont. A bouncy band from Chicago, Illinois, formed by Chicago high school friends in 2014, Belmont quickly evolved from local pop-punk band to internationally lauded rock band with the release of their 2016 EP, Between You & Me, and 2018’s debut, self-titled full-length. After signing with Pure Noise Records, the then three-piece went on to release 2021’s heralded sophomore record, Aftermath, produced by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, Real Friends – Article Link).

The trio made up of Taz Johnson (vocals), Brian Lada (drums, guitar, bass, programming) and Jason Inguagiato (guitar) put out another album in 2024, Liminal, which further expanded their eclectic sound incorporating a fusion of pop-punk, metal, electronic and more! The band was interviewed here. They were a late addition to the DGD Return Of The Robot Tour, and I’m betting the other bands are very happy with them keeping the audience pumped!

The Home Team

The Home Team is Brian Butcher (vocals), John Baran (guitar), Ryne Olson (bass), and Daniel Matson (drums). They are a Seattle-based four piece band that, in an endeavor to blend multiple different genres, has branded themselves as “heavy pop.” Baran and Matson formed The Home Team in 2013 after touring in their respective metal bands for a while. In 2015, Butcher (who also happens to be the first person to ever purchase their original EP with the first singer) auditioned, and being a genuine fan of the band, made for the perfect new addition. Olson entered the fold in 2019 after meeting and clicking on tour. I’m not going to repeat everything I’ve written before, this is not the first time I’ve seen them at Jannus Live, and believe it or not, it was HOTTER then! Last time it was on the IDOBI tour, in July 2024.

They put on an awesome show, as expected, slamming through Slow Bloom, Brag, Right Through Me, Worthy, Overtime, Somebody Else’s Face, Walk This World With Me, Hell,  Move It or Lose It, Watching All Your Friends Get Rich, and Loud!  Helluva set!

Finally, it was time for Dance Gavin Dance to take the stage, which they did with a dramatic intro starting out in darkness!

Dance Gavin Dance

Formed in Sacramento, California in 2005, Dance Gavin Dance – today comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Wells, his fellow frontman Jon Mess, lead guitarist Will Swan, and drummer Matthew Mingus – are a powerhouse of alternative music; true originals and originators alike, crafting an exhilarating cacophony of sounds and disparate styles that harmonizes everything from funk through metalcore to post-hardcore, pop sensibilities colliding with progressive, kaleidoscopic song structures. With four Billboard 200 Top 15 albums to their name and one of the most deeply fanatical fanbases in modern music fueling millions of record sales and billions of streams, as the esteemed Rock Sound magazine attests: “There is no band on earth like Dance Gavin Dance.” If you’re lucky you can still catch them on tour:

Dance Gavin Dance

Pantheon, the band’s 11th studio album, is set to be released on September 12th via Rise Records. Their first full length release since 2022’s Jackpot Juicer – which debuted at #8 in the Billboard Top 200 – Pantheon sees the band building on their signature genre defying sound with soul shredding breakdowns, pop infused melodies, frenzied screams, and guest vocals from the legendary master of P-funk, George Clinton on the song “Space Cow Initiation Ritual”. Fans can pre-save / pre-order Pantheon as a 2LP set now, here: https://dancegavindance.lnk.to/Pantheon.

The second track from their forthcoming album Pantheon, “All The Way Down” is a dexterous display of frenetic guitars, blistering percussion, and seamless back-and-forth of rough and clean vocals. According to Andrew Wells: “In a world of modernity plagued by information overload, hearsay, and conspiracy; how far down does the rabbit hole go? All the way down.”

“I think Pantheon is a testament to perseverance and the gratitude that we feel today,” Wells adds. “Being able to overcome everything that life hits you with, find your people – the people that you trust, people that you love, people that love you – and create art with them, whatever chaos the world has in store for you. It’s about getting through the hardest times, getting back to basics, and making something that you love.” One thing: When doing southern summer tours in the USA, outlandish pajama-like outfits are fine, but shorts sleeves and shorts will prevent heatstroke!
