Review: Bear Park’s single “Keep On Smiling” – Release date March 29, 2024

The latest single from Bear Park lives up to its name flawlessly. “Keep on Smiling” blends all the best alt-pop and indie music has to offer, with an added atmospheric stripped-down arpeggiated guitar intro slightly cognizant of millennial-favorite emo bands. This sonic motif also pops up again during the first verse, which collides with the vocal rhythm in a really deliberate, clever way.

Lyrically, I loved the rhyming of “rocket” and “pocket”, bringing a staccato flair to an already amped-up tune ideal for setting the tone for the best spring and summer parties of 2024. At the end of the day, life is what you make it, and this band encourages listeners to do that without coming off as cheesy. Familiar chord changes layered with an energetic drum beat help listeners feel right at home without being bored. I especially appreciated the subtle rhythmic nuances which set this band apart from similar acts. Don’t forget to listen to “Keep on Smiling” as the weather warms up – it’s the perfect soundtrack to an indie coming-of-age movie, or even just your own summertime adventures.
