Review: Pol Sembrano’s Self-Titled Album –  Release date: February 20, 2026

Pol Sembrano

When we reviewed Pol Sembrano’s single ‘Open Mind,’ we thought that this Filipino-American composer and classically trained pianist from Seattle is on the track to revive the eighties electro-pop in the right way.

Now, here comes his self-titled album that simply confirms the fact that Sembrano has his finger fully on the pulse what the eighties electro pop was all about. Not only the above mentioned single that opens the album, but all of the nine tracks here confirm the fact that Sembrano knows exactly what he is doing – picking the key elements that established electro-pop as the fave of listeners (and dancers) the world around back in the eighties, but at the same time bringing it up to speed with current production techniques, making it all sound brand spanking new.

Sembrano points out the following: “My self-titled debut album is lyrically written from personal experience. Themes include the joy of escapism, isolation, unrequited love, death and hope. Musically, the songs are melodic, hook driven, danceable and thought-provoking. Listeners may be able to connect with the music and apply it to their personal lives.”

Don’t be surprised if at some point listening to this album your toes just start tapping the floor by themselves.
