Review: Prism Shores’ album – Softest Attack – Release date: April 10, 2026

How do you make your shoegaze jangle? If you are in doubt, you can ask (and definitely listen to) Montreal’s Prism Shores and their latest album ‘Softest Attack.’ Quite a fitting title as this quartet composed of Jack MacKenzie (guitar, bass, vocals), Ben Goss (guitar, bass, vocals), Luke Pound (drums, guitar, vocals), and Finn Dalbeth (guitar, vocals) does exactly that here, as their 12 tracks are full of jangling guitars, three, often at the same time, and some nifty harmonies that cross the liens between shoegaze and jangle pop and then back bringing to mind everybody from The Boo Radleys, Teenage Fanclub, Sugar, and The Lemonheads (the list doesn’t end there). It is all great references, and Prism Shores cite them so well without turning into copycats at any point, making that sound all their own.
Great spring sounds all the way.
