Review: Kiwi Jr. – Blowin’ Up – Release date: August 14, 2026
When the sounds coming out of Toronto are concerned, you can always expect the (un)expected. With Kiwi Jr. and their fourth album Blowin’ Up, we get both, depending whether you are familiar with the band or not.
Those familiar get another hefty dose of both energy and high-quality power pop. For the unfamiliar, they might expect that high energy and high quality, but power pop? Well, why not if it is as good as Brohan Moore, Jeremy Gaudet, Brian Murphy, and Mike Walker, the guys that are Kiwi Jr., make.
None of these guys may be exactly a junior, but then, you need to have crammed a few years in your backside to be able to come up with some music that has all the elements of prime time power pop. Oh, and you do have to remember at least a bit of it from before to make sure that you know what is good and what is not. Summer music at its best.
