Review: Optacure’s single “Angel” – Release date: November 16, 2026
Getting into the singer songwriter space and making some splash has always been tough, and seems to be even tougher now. Not only is the space crowded with artists, but unless you are taking some new musical routes and simply sticking to your acoustic instrument of choice and vocals, you just might not have a chance of making it, unless you are exceptional.
Yet, if you bring in a hefty dose of dream pop and light shoegaze to your music, this just might do the trick. That is the route Optacure, aka Edmund Gamelo, Jr., singer songwriter from Queensland Australia does on his latest single “Angel.” Collaborating with Ean Aguila, who contributes bass, synth, drums and additional guitars and co-produces as well, Gamelo does exactly this with his soothing, prominent vocals and even better electric guitar work, creates a sort of a delicate dream pop song that works more and more with every play.
