Review: Tiberius – Troubadour – Release date: November 14, 2025

When Boston’s Tiberius open up their new album  ‘Troubadour,’ you just might get the impression you’re in for another easy, languid set of indie songs. And the title might suggest that direction too. Yet, when “Sag” literally kicks in, you are assured that the indie tag is still there, but Tiberius simply kick it up quite a few notches, as if we are back in the nineties and the prime time of Boston indie rock, something of a cross between Buffalo Tom and the poppier side of Lemonheads (with a touch of Cincinnati greats Afghan Wigs.

Sure, Tiberius, the quartet that started out as a solo project of one Brendan Wright can slow it down when they wish (“It Has to Be True”) or add touches of alt-country (“Moab”), but that really healthy indie guitar rock ethic remains throughout this album that tells us that indie rock is still alive and well.
