Review: Mark Daly & the Ravens’ video for the single “Nothing to Lose” – Release date March 18, 2023
Rock At Night says: We see Mark Daly in a hotel room and on the street as the video tells the story of one man (performed by guitarist Kieran Robertson) on a bender. He is stumbling on the street and smoking, with a bottle in hand, before he meets his mates at pub. At first, it appears to be a jovial meeting amongst friends (performed by Daly’s bandmates the Ravens and manager) as they compare tattoos, laugh, and and play billiards. Finally, the inebriated man begins to spiral as he flips off his friends and gets into a scuffle. The video cuts to the band performing live on stage.
Honestly, I love this song! It’s dark, gritty, and Daly’s singing is very Tyler-esque. The video meshes well with the lyrics and vibe. But, to fully appreciate the song, you need to see the band live–like I did in January. The next best thing is get the single and listen to it with the volume raised. Yes, LOUD.
