British Blues-Rock Reborn: The Exiles Give Turning Time the Ultimate 30th Anniversary Treatment

Single Review

The Exiles
The Exiles

On August 7, 2026, The Exiles finally dropped the much-anticipated 30th-anniversary edition of Turning Time. This definitive, fully remastered reissue breathes new life into the record, treating both die-hard followers and newcomers to an upgraded sonic experience. Beyond fresh artwork and a detailed booklet, the collection boasts five “rediscovered,” previously unreleased songs pulled straight from the original era.

Sonically, the record is a tour de force of classic British blues-rock, channeling the iconic energy of titans like Led Zeppelin, Faces, Bad Company, and Free. The lineup features an all-British cast of expats, anchored by the commanding voice of Paul Rafferty (original Bonham frontman and Joe Bonamassa collaborator) and the emotive fretwork of Sean Manning (formerly of Hurricane and Little Women). Grounded by a rock-solid rhythm section featuring bassist Paul Andrew Stanley and drummer Terry Mascall, the quartet serves up a heavy dose of soulful rhythms and soaring guitar-vocal interplay.

Tracked across several Los Angeles studios, the project benefits from a heavyweight production roster, including Neil Geraldo (Pat Benatar, Rick Derringer), Roger Sommers (Tesla, Riverdogs), and Eddie and Ricky Delena (Quiet Riot, Nazareth).

Rock At Night checked out two (2) of the new editions to the album, “I’m the One” and “Soul Woman,” saying, “What’s not to love about these two (2) gems. In the vein of 70s classic bands like Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Humble Pie, or Foghat or 90s bands like The Black Crowes – killer riffs and soulful, raspy vocals, oozes with earthy swagger.”
