Review: 16 Underground – Without a Trace EP – Release date: August 14, 2026
The debate whether dream pop in all its shapes and forms is here to stay has been over for quite a while now with almost a slew of artists taking varying routes that this rock genre can take these days.
Los Angeles quartet 16 Underground, fronted by quite heavenly vocals of Hannah Campbell are certainly among those researching those dream pop routes on their 5-song EP ‘Without a Trace.’ Formed back in 2022, and with most members actually having a more hardcore/punk background, it seemed initially that dream pop was a sort of an experiment for them, but , by listening to the five songs here, it is one where that often intoxicating combination of gentle vocals and instrumentation combined with a subtle variants of electronics work not only for the band but even for those listeners that don’t always take in dream pop.
