Review: Cage the Elephant’s single – Beaches in Tennessee – Release date July 10, 2026

Cage The Elephant formed in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 2006. They moved to England and settled in London in 2008, shortly before their self-titled first album was released. Six albums, a live album (Unpeeled), and two Grammy Awards later, the band is back with its first new music in two years, beginning its next chapter with Big Loud Rock.

This Kentucky-bred six-piece instinctively leans on their enduring bond as both musicians and friends to get through anything and everything. Cage The Elephant is Matt Shultz on vocals, Brad Shultz on rhythm guitar, Nick Bockrath on lead guitar, Matthan Minster on keyboards/guitar / backing vocals, Daniel Tichenor on bass, and Jared Champion on drums. The band was assisted by producers Justin Raisen and Jeremiah Raisen.

“Beaches In Tennessee” is a fictionalized account of vocalist Matt Shultz’s own personal life struggles. “As a band, we were able to reclaim the ability to write a song rooted in a difficult, turbulent real-life event, but do so in a lighthearted way. I hope it helps someone else the way it helped me.”

This new single is straightforward and simple but catchy, with an upbeat style that has made this band so popular over the past couple of decades. The mix of guitars, bass, and drums is spot-on and tight, while the chorus hooks will keep rolling around in your head. As always, Matt Shultz’s vocals are captivating and always a fan favorite.
