Review of pMad’s single “Blood” – Release date January 7, 2026
Irish post-punk band pMad released their brand new song “Blood” to accompany their new album “1 + 1= -1”. The song cuts right to the chase, introducing itself with a simple combination of bass and guitar before almost immediately delivering a thundering riff with the full power of the band.
Not far behind is the first verse, in which dramatic themes of human conflict are addressed. The song provides commentary on war and the ability of the powerful to evade bloodshed themselves while sending others to die. It is a powerful and though-provoking addition to the track.
While the foundations of the song are very much based in the guitar riffs, the band doesn’t limit the musical characteristics to just that. I picked up elements of genres such as new wave, with the dark, monotone vocals and the synthesizer leads scattered throughout the track. This creative decision is a wise one, as it adds to the textures of the song and makes for a more enticing listen.
“Blood” is a just a small sample of what pMad have to offer on their new album, and it’s perfect for anyone looking for a hard nosed, honest post-punk record.
