Review: Dion Smith’s single “Freedom” – Release date June 6, 2025
British guitarist/producer Dion Smith released the first song off his upcoming EP Karma Comes Knocking, titled “Freedom”, on June 6th.
On the track, Smith delivers a simple but powerful message, calling on people to combat dark times by rising above the bleak people and negativity surrounding them. The song features a unique blend of rock, electronic, and even dance music, and serves as a strong anthem with an important lesson about letting go and moving on.
The song is also paired with a music video, which showcases the full beauty and liberation that comes with freeing yourself from past burdens.
Smith utilizes the talents of drummer Cherisse Osei of Simple Minds, bassist Charlie Jones of The Cult, lead vocalist Ivan Mihaljevic, and backing vocalist Lou Trigg, to create an instant classic with a timeless point.
