Review: Grant Pavol – Left That Party EP – Release Date, May 2, 2025
Is anybody still picking up on that power pop that leans a bit on the grunge that was so poplar back in the nineties? Actually yes, and quite a few of those act kind of dropped the ball along the way, forgetting that a good melody still plays a serious part in making such music sound good.
NYC via Philadelphia artist Grant Pavol who doubles as a solo artist and a frequent co-writer and bassist for Shamir takes that route, but on the five songs on his new EP ‘Left That Party’ Pavol holds on tight to that melody ball and doesn’t let it go from his sight, whether in is to the title track that opens proceedings here or elsewhere on this EP, even when he slows things down on the closer that is ‘The World At My Feet.
Sure, you just might have heard all these sounds before, but Pavol arranges them in all the right ways, coming up with a breezy, spring-ready set of songs.
