Review: GBMystical – Wannabe LP – Release date: May, 2, 2025
New sounds out of Philadelphia and they are quite cool as a refreshing summer breeze. These sounds are coming from GBMystical and their album ‘Wannabe,’ led by one Terrin Munawet. Coming up with an intriguing instrumental setup (guitar, bass, drums, and trombone), the focus is on strong songwriting, some languid rhythms and as many vocal harmonies you can come up with, and it all works a charm through a dozen songs here.
Munawet started this project back in 2022, as a solo beatmaking project, evolving into a singer-songwriter project with backing tracks, eventually coalescing into a full band, with support from Philly and NYC musicians. There are some intriguing chord changes throughout the album and Munawet has a great sense of melody that carries the music throughout the album.
