Review: Only Love’s single ‘Downpour’ – Release date June 14, 2024
Southwest England’s pop-punk band Only Love just released a single from their concept EP Death’s Night Shift (release date January 26, 2024). The EP was written and recorded in the English countryside inside an allegedly haunted mansion.
Rock At Night says: “Downpour” is a tale of loneliness, solitude, and the inability to feel anymore. The chorus says: I just can’t remember the last time/ I wasn’t lost in a lullaby /These walls have caused my aching heart in me to /Dry up and calcify I can’t feel anything any more. But, the melody is high-spirited pop-punk with punchy guitar solos and layered vocals. With its spooky undertones, you’ll be dancing, head-bobbin,’ and maybe even moshing to the beat.
