Norfolk County’s 2nd annual “Fairgrounds Festival” took place Friday and Saturday night at the Norfolk County Fairgrounds in Simcoe, Ontario to a near capacity crowd. The two-day event includes music from some of the best Canadian musicians as well as a night market featuring over 70 vendors, interactive games, food trucks, and the Local Beverage Garden with drinks by with many local craft beers and artisan vendors.

The Party on the Track Concert series has been sponsored by private business and a grant through the Amplify Norfolk initiative.  Amplify Norfolk is an initiative to help promote Norfolk County by attracting tourists and establishing Norfolk County as a premier destination through hosting live entertainment events. Norfolk mayor Amy Martin announced that unfortunately this is the final year for this grant program.

This year’s two-night line-up was an all-Canadian line-up.

Friday night opened with By Divine Right, founded in 1989 in Toronto. Next to take the stage was 54-40 from British Columbia and closing out the night was the Sam Roberts Band from Montreal Quebec.

Saturday night was opened by a new band called the Wild High who is led by Monster Truck’s former lead singer Jon Harvey. Unlike Monster Truck’s hard rock, the Wild High is more southern rock. Following the Wild High was Saint Asonia, another “supergroup” created by former lead singer of Three Days Grace Adam Gontier and lead guitar Mike Mushok of Staind.  Closing out the Fairgrounds Festival concert series was post-grunge/alternative rock band Theory of a Deadman led by Tyler Connolly.

JR Diggs, Canadian late night tv show host, hinted both nights that there is a huge announcement coming July 15th for the upcoming fall Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show.   “You should follow @norfolkfairgroundsfestival on Instagram as this announcement with have tickets sold out the same day as the announcement.”  We can’t wait to find out what’s in the air for the Fall Fair.
