EXTREME: New song ‘Hurricane’ and bands head to the UK on November 27th

Single Review / Tour

The sixth single and video from “SIX” (their new album and one of the most acclaimed of 2023), “HURRICANE” features that classic unique vocal interplay between Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt. The track mixes velvet-smooth harmonies and a delicately plucked melody that wraps around the chorus in a gorgeous embrace… “it’s the storm before the calm.”

Written after the loss of a good friend, Nuno reflects, “We get crushed by losing someone. Time passes and we calm down, but the pain never goes away.”

“That’s where Nuno shines, man,” adds Gary. “Everyone looks at him as a guitar hero, but he’s a songwriter first. This is a beautiful piece of music.”

The video, once again directed by Nuno, features all four band members (including drummer Kevin Figueiredo and bassist Pat Badger) individually confronting difficult moments, but finding the inspiration to continue. And when they all come together as Extreme… they remind us all of who we are and who we can be… from one extreme to the other.

Rock At Night Says: The acoustic guitar-driven ballad shows off the vocal harmonies of Nuno Bettencourt and Gary Cherone. The melody is poignant and emotive, which is totally fitting for the lyrics, that touch on finding the will to move on after losing a loved one. I can listen to this over and over. The song is sure to become an arena ballad.
