EP Review: “God is Dead

Release Date: January 20, 2023

DEVORA hits it out of the park again with her latest 4-track EP, with each song adding yet more flavor to her specialty genre of Outlaw Pop. With her self-acclaimed title as the Goth Dolly Parton, she has just broken into the scene again with these hook filled tunes that evoke the mystery and spaciousness of the West, dark motels, altered states, the open road, driving through the haunted desert, religious imagery, macabre themes and a disappointing American Dream. An inspiring songwriter, she has been playing some dates in Southern California, so if you are in that area, look for her name advertised at local venues and be sure to check out her live shows if you can.

Tracks:

God is Dead

Wild West

Bonesaw

In 2021, Devora’s debut EP, ‘Outlaw’, celebrated life in the fast lane, offering an inner glimpse into a mad world of exile and rebellion, love and lawlessness. It was her first installment of a fierce collective of stories and art that illustrate a perfect portrait of her dark wild west. The EP saw support at radio, peaking top five on the Sub Modern Commercial Specialty Charts, and press write-ups at places like AltPress, Inked, and Earmilk. The ‘Outlaw’ EP has garnered 2.3 million streams to date. You can check out Rock at Night’s review of “Outlaw” from the summer of 2021 right HERE.

About the “God is Dead” EP, Rock at Night says:

“Love these four songs with the accompanying videos. With driving grit these songs roll with a steady beat and expert lyrics that delve right into the emotions and set the scene for each story DEVORA tells. Back-up musicians are stellar and sound like a blend of country rock and synth pop. With an otherworldly vibe, the videos are short films that are dark and similar to film noire; the images are sometimes provocative and disturbing but leave the viewer wanting more. Everything about this whole package is artistry!”
