Review: Snapcat Bandits’ single “Beautiful Star” – Release date June 5, 2026

Having frequently interviewed Mike Krupinski and Melanie Marshall over the years and spent plenty of time capturing their energy through my camera lens, I’m always eager to see where the Snapcat Bandits will take their sound next. The duo has built a reputation on genre-blending authenticity, and their latest single, “Beautiful Star,” is a stellar testament to that creative evolution.
From the first few seconds, the track draws you in with a beautifully hypnotic, melodic hook. It carries an undeniable psychedelic vibe, driven by lush, jangly guitars that feel brilliantly bright and spacey. The melody is instantly catchy, weaving a dreamlike atmosphere that sets a deceptively smooth tone.
But just as you get comfortable in that psych-pop haze, the Snapcat Bandits pull the rug out from under you. The track shifts gears entirely, driving hard into heavy, nostalgic grunge territory. The guitar tones thicken, the rhythm section hits with an aggressive, raw punch, and the vocals take on a gritty, impassioned edge that perfectly channels early ’90s alternative rock distortion.
What makes “Beautiful Star” stand out is how seamlessly Mike and Melanie bridge these two contrasting sonic worlds. The transition from shimmering, jangly psychedelia to full-throttle grunge explosion never feels forced; instead, it creates a dynamic, high-energy tension that demands repeat listens.
For longtime fans who have followed their journey—and for anyone looking for a rock single that balances infectious melody with a heavy, distortion-laden bite—”Beautiful Star” is a must-add to your rotation. It’s loud, dynamic, and undeniably Snapcat Bandits.
