Review: Corella’s single “Rewire” -Release date March 5, 2026
Manchester’s fast-rising rock outfit Corella has dropped their latest single, “Rewire”, marking their debut release on the FLG label.
The track was helmed by Grammy Award-winning producer Jason Perry (known for his work with acts like The Molotovs, McFly, and Don Broco). “Rewire” delivers a high-octane rock punch, powered by soaring guitar lines, pounding drums, deep bass grooves, and raw, snarling vocals that channel widespread political frustration on both sides of the Atlantic.
Frontman and guitarist Joel Smith explains the inspiration behind it: “So many people, particularly here in the UK, feel incredibly exposed and ready to accept whatever narrative is fed to them. The song stems from our growing irritation at watching how easily folks get ‘rewired’ into certain mindsets. But it’s also a call to action—to turn that around, question everything, and push back against the norm.”
“Rewire” has already become a live favorite, igniting crowds at Corella’s intense shows. The band first unveiled it during summer festivals across the UK and Europe last year, and it’s kept the momentum going strong in 2026 while supporting Kaiser Chiefs on their UK tour. That slot came after Kaiser Chiefs caught Corella’s electrifying main-stage set at Kendal Calling and personally chose them as support.
This single signals a bold evolution for Corella as they charge into 2026 with renewed intensity and direction. They’ve sharpened their early indie roots into something fiercer and more cutting-edge, infusing their music with a darker edge and explosive vitality—like bottled lightning from the North ready to break loose.
“Rewire” serves as the first new material since their 2024 debut album Once Upon A Weekend, which stormed into the Top 5 on the UK Independent Breakers Chart and the Top 20 across Album Sales, Physical, and Vinyl charts.
The band has built serious traction, earning backing from BBC Radio 1, Radio X, and BBC Introducing, while racking up more than 70 million streams since the album’s release. That support has fueled sold-out headline tours across the UK and Europe, major festival slots (including Reading & Leeds main stages), and tours alongside bands like Pale Waves, Circa Waves, and The Wombats.
Corella is now gearing up for their sophomore album later in 2026—stay tuned for more announcements soon.
Rock At Night says: Corella’s latest single “Rewire” explodes onto the scene with raw punk aggression, razor-sharp jangly guitars, and an unrelenting high-energy rush that feels like a wake-up call cranked to eleven. The official music video amps up the chaos perfectly: it’s a dynamic, fast-cut montage of the band tearing through everyday spaces—cramped kitchens, dimly lit hotel rooms, gritty tool shops, urban streets among towering buildings, and even a sunlit basketball court. The locations shift rapidly, mirroring the song’s restless energy and giving it a grounded, almost guerrilla vibe that makes the rebellion feel immediate and real.
If you’re craving something heavier than their earlier indie shimmer but still packed with catchy hooks and attitude, “Rewire” delivers like lightning in a bottle. It’s a bold, politically charged statement from a band ready to explode—definitely worth cranking up loud.
He’s got a pig hiding in his draw
Blue suit and a tie start another war
Control the nation its difficult
But when times they get tough you better suck it up
I don’t like your style
Re-wire
