Review: Kurt Deimer’s video/single for “Scared to Death”

Multi-talented artist Kurt Deimer—known for his work as a rising rock singer, songwriter, actor, and film producer—has just dropped his latest single, “Scared To Death.” He’s also revealed that his second full-length album, A Grog Is Born, will arrive on May 8th through his independent label, Bald Man Records.

The track shares its name with Deimer’s upcoming horror-comedy film Scared To Death, set to hit theaters on March 13th. In the movie, he delivers a memorable performance as the standout character known as The Grog, sharing the screen with horror icons Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley.

Rock At Night says: This hard-hitting horror rocker packs a punch—Kurt’s booming baritone rides a menacing bass riff that’s pure nightmare fuel. The video cranks up the terror with zombie chaos and spot-on campy flair. The tied-in horror-comedy film Scared to Death looks like a riotous good time (Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley star, with Deimer stealing scenes as The Grog). Catch it in theaters March 13th. Crank it loud—this one’s a scream!

Deimer describes the album as a long-awaited outpouring of creativity. “A Grog Is Born captures all those emotions and ideas I’ve kept bottled up inside for years,” he explains. “Playing The Grog in the film and now naming the album after that character feels like a full-circle moment—almost like I’m being reborn as an artist. This is a complete fresh start for me, and I’m beyond thrilled about it!”

Director Paul Boyd, who helmed the film, praises the synergy between the music video and the movie production. “Turning Kurt and the band into zombies right there in the same house we used for filming was a blast,” Boyd says. “Kurt nailed the role perfectly—he’s got the charisma and presence to become a real standout in the horror world.”

The album A Grog Is Born was produced by the renowned Chris Lord-Alge, a five-time GRAMMY winner famous for his work with acts like Green Day and Breaking Benjamin. It opens with the hard-hitting single “In Deep,” featuring Buckcherry’s Josh Todd on vocals. That track, a raw take on irresistible, almost mesmerizing attraction, has already made waves, climbing to #39 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart.
