Rock At Night has been closely tracking the Ann Arbor alt-rock veterans Tension Splash since last summer, and their latest drop is a thrilling blast from the past—re-imagined for the future.

The band has just unleashed a 2026 remastered single of “AB Said,” the standout lead track from their self-titled 1993 debut album. Originally produced by the legendary Tim Patalan (of Sponge fame) at his Loft studio, the track has been lovingly digitized, remixed, and refreshed by the band alongside Patalan himself. This isn’t mere nostalgia—it’s a full sonic upgrade designed to hit harder in the modern era, breathing new life into their classic material for today’s listeners.

Drummer Sean Field sums up the transformation: “The new version is slightly shorter than the original and remastered for more punch.” Paired with a striking new video produced by Mamma’s Maiden Studio, the single delivers a powerful visual companion that amplifies the song’s moody intensity.

ROCK AT NIGHT SAYS: This is an astounding effort from Gray, Nick, and Sean—a masterclass in moodiness, dynamic range, and raw power. Tension Splash is serving notice loud and clear: they’re a force to be reckoned with in 2026 and beyond. Keep your eyes (and ears) locked on these Ann Arbor legends—they’re not just revisiting history; they’re rewriting it with fire.

Stream the remastered “AB Said” now and crank it up!
