Single Review: Talking Violet’s “In Your Mind” – Release date  August 14, 2025

Talking Violet dropped a new track last week, “In Your Mind,” that feels like a moonlit walk through a forest of glowing rivers and shimmering trees. Throughout the entirety of this track, Talking Violet delivers a sound that is heavy, upbeat, and sonically huge. Within the first few seconds of listening to “In Your Mind,” you’ll understand exactly why Talking Violet has coined their music as  “dreamo.” The band puts their musical skills to use, blending the ethereal and the raw into one powerful genre. 

The emotional, raw lyrics paired with the track’s overall darkness immediately pull listeners  into a deep, dream-like state. Once you’ve entered, the hypnotic atmosphere won’t let you escape. When the chorus hits, the world shifts, and listeners get fully drawn into an entirely different dimension. Initially, it seems like a place where you can go to escape and leave your problems behind. But this song doesn’t just distract from reality. Instead of numbing the pain, the song confronts it head-on, providing clarity and offering answers in a haunting yet deeply comforting way. 

Talking Violet’s sound is a unique blend of shoegaze, grunge, and dream-pop, and “In Your Mind” captures the fusion at its strongest. The track was produced and mixed by Justin Meli (Universal Canada) and mastered by Will Yip (Turnstile, Lauryn Hill, Panic! At The Disco). Based in Windsor, Ontario, this four-piece band has been making waves on SiriusXM’s The Verge and streaming services’ editorial playlists. “In Your Mind” has all the makings of a breakthrough moment, and it feels like Talking Violet is getting ready to step right into the spotlight.
