Review: “Talkin’ Talkin’ (feat. Eric Schulz & Slow Burn)” by Skeetch – Release date May 9, 2025

German skatepunk band Skeetch just dropped a brand new single “Talkin’ Talkin’” (feat. Eric Schulz & Slow Burn) on May 9th. So folks, let’s ride right into this review.

Formed in Leipzig, Germany in 2021, Skeetch has released three EPs and toured across Europe, hitting countries like France, Croatia, and many others. Their debut album has been teased by the band and their label, Punkerton Records. While there isn’t a set release date, it’s safe to assume that fans will be thrilled when this full-length project drops.

“Talkin’ Talkin’” calls out today’s epidemic of inauthenticity, which is something that I believe has been massively exacerbated by social media. Millions of people are influenced by millions of others, chasing trends that change weekly. Frontman Max Schlegel shares some thoughts about the song’s meaning: “Talkin’ Talkin’ is our second single, a call-out to the noise-makers, the clout-chasers, and the ones who talk just to hear themselves talking. It’s aimed at the fakes: the gossipers, the two-faced, and anyone who values attention over authenticity.”

Now, let’s circle back to something I find both interesting and important. Skeetch’s album will be released via Punkerton Records — a Columbus, Ohio-based label. You heard that right! This German skatepunk band is signed to an indie label in the American Midwest. If that’s not authenticity, I don’t know what is.

Max Schlegel (vocals), Tom Kühnel (guitar and vocals), Markus Ackert (bass and vocals), and Richard Meyer (drums) work as a team, bringing serious attitude and intent to the table. Their melodic sound hits hard and feeds the DIY-minded, giving the skatepunk scene exactly what it craves: raw, no-bullshit punk rock.
