Brian James, a Michigan native and former lead guitarist for Uncle Kracker, has his own new single dropping just in time for the holidays, “On My Way for Christmas” out now.
Brian says, “I’ve always loved up-beat and fun Christmas songs, opposed to the slow ones. So, I just combined my love for that, with my love for my Mamma and boom, we have ourselves a good country Christmas jam!
“You may not have anything to give other than yourself, but what we sometimes don’t realize is that that is more than enough for our families. They just want our presence even if we don’t have a present to give.”
Rock At Night Says: As we get into the holiday season, traditional music will start cropping up in your favorite supermarket or retail store (if it hasn’t already). I tend to favor the more upbeat, rock-flavored songs penned in the last 70 years (man, that sounds like a long time). So, I gave “On My Way For Christmas” a whirl.
From the get-go, the song is up tempo, James’ baritone voice shines, and it makes me want to get up and cut a rug. No somber “Silent Night” here! The lyrics describe James’ memories of the family’s holiday prep (“mama in the kitchen making rhubarb pie and grandpa cooking gizzard on to the side”) while he’s making his way back home (“Mama, I’m on my way home for Christmas”). One can easily two-step or jitterbug to this spirited song (although you might be out of breath–the tempo is super fast). Kudos to the twinkling keys, which are a nice touch. Listen for yourself!
“On My Way for Christmas” was produced by Super Producer and Engineer, Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) at Pearl Sound Studios (Asking Alexandria, Eminem, Filter) in Canton, MI. and released on Belle Chasse Records.
