New Single and Video Release: “1986” by The Static Dive

“With a down and dirty Funk groove, smoking psychedelic Blues guitar and more hooks than a Casey Kasem countdown, “1986” is a crazy fun single that was released on April 15, 2021 and is now on all streaming platforms. “It’s like Jimi Hendrix, War and P-Funk got together to write a Pop song” – Kilo’s mom.
With funky synths, cool guitar riffs and overlaying some electronic keyboard melodies, this mostly instrumental tune will get your toes tapping! The song could have come out in 1986 as it has a timeless sound and a nice melange of genres. The song was produced, engineered, written and performed by one person.
So who is The Static Dive, you ask? It is a blog that features independent music from everywhere! The creator, Bob Smith creates and explores his very own independent music by releasing his own singles.
Bob says: “Over the years I’ve made a lot of music as a solo artist and with my bands Shu and The Distractions. I still work with the bands on occasion. The Distractions recently released three new songs born out of quarantine. I release all of my new solo stuff as The Static Dive. It’s pretty experimental, mixing analog and digital into a genre-fluid sound. In 2019 I made a lot of instrumentals. 2020 was a bit of a mixed bag of instrumental and vocal stuff. I have new music already scheduled for release in 2021 and it looks like I’m going to keep sliding down that rabbit hole.”
Even more about his experience in the music industry: “In one capacity or another I have worked in the music industry for about a quarter of a century. In the early 2000’s I was a founding partner and the primary technical developer of HitPredictor.com. The boutique company helped define organic online music promotion and research. I am no longer associated, but during those years I ran campaigns for every major record label.”
