Because Villains

By Anita Stewart, Managing Editor

EP: “Yes”

Release date: April 13, 2021

Because Villains launched in April 2020 and as they say, during the worst timing ever! The globe was going into pandemic lock-downs and live shows, creating a buzz and pushing promotions for new music were scarcely happening anywhere. It was way past time to get creative! And it makes it pretty easy when the band is really one person, an incredible multi instrumentalist that music aficionados need to hear–Travis James. He hails from Sarasota, Florida and is now based out of Nashville.

Covid seemed to open up the floodgates for many musicians. All of a sudden they had more time to focus on creating new music in a very huge way. And Travis has PLANS! Last year he released a 4 song EP of alternative music titled “Breathe Fast Slowly.” This writer loved these tracks, the genre was pop, alternative, synth and along with superb songwriting, heavy lyrics and beautiful vocalizations, these songs could definitely be played on commercial radio, but are still definitely edgy. The tracks are:

Travis James

Last Word

Everything She Wants ( a George Michael and Wham cover )

Already Gone

What You Say

Today his new recording dropped and it is titled Yes” and it is already uploaded to the streaming platforms. The formula for many artists today is changing and rather than take the time, expense and effort to record a full length studio album, musicians are doing EPs and singles and releasing music much more often. This latest recording consists of three beautiful alternative and emotionally vibing tracks by this one man band and they are:

There is Us

Painkillers

The Feeling

It is important to note that Travis James self funds his own music! And Rock at Night is waiting to hear more!
