ALBUM REVIEW: Chase Rice’s Lamb & Lions–Release date November 17, 2017

With three studio albums under his belt, Chase Rice made sure his forth “Lambs & Lions” was different from anything else he’s done. When a man with such diverse life experiences as, college football star, NASCAR Pit crew member, and television’s Survivor: Nicaragua finalist says he wants to “Create an album that stands for what I stand for”, he does it all the way.

Starting with a new label, Broken Bow Records, Chase is starting fresh with “Lambs & Lions” album. As evidenced right from the first cut, “Lions”, this album is unlike anything in country music today. Title cut, “Lions” opens with “The Lord’s Prayer” and includes an equally haunting “We are Lions” chant. Guitarists Rob McNelley & Chris DeStefano showcase their versatility as Chase combines multiple genres, to make “Lions” a statement for Chase Rice to declare this album as unequivocally his own.

Chase’s great vocals and lyrics (along with Dorian Crozier on drums) make “On Tonight” one of those songs you just can’t get out of your head. While other songs such as, “Unforgettable”, “Eyes on You” and “Saved Me”, Chase gives us some insight on his softer “Lamb” side. While “Lambs & Lions” is uniquely Chase Rice, he doesn’t forget his southern roots.

“Three Chords & The Truth”, pays homage to his heroes Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Merle Haggard, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Chase says “Three Chords & The Truth captures the power of following my dream to Nashville”. While on “One Love, One Kiss, One Drink, One Song” he references “an old George Strait” (All my ex’s live in Texas) song. The album finishes up with ‘This Cowboy’s Hat” (featuring Ned LeDoux), a moving ballad of sorts, full of family, pride and patriotism.

“Lambs & Lions” clearly shows us a young, revitalized Chase Rice, with a renewed purpose, and a clear new vision, making this album a must buy for new and old fans alike.
