Matt Nathanson: A little bit country, a lot rock and roll, and all musician!

By Brent Michael, Rock At Night Tampa Correspondent

Venue: Busch Gardens, Tampa

From the moment he steps on stage, you can tell this is a serious musician and songwriter, and a serious band backing him up. A well-worn but obviously much loved guitar, no fancy costumes or fashionable haircuts (well, maybe the one guitarist), just solid music that has brought him both fans and accolades.

Even if you’ve never picked up one of his eleven and soon to be twelve albums, or seen one of his six music videos, or heard one of his songs on the radio, or seen one of his appearances on television shows like That Metal Show or David Letterman or Ellen DeGeneres, you’ve probably heard one on NCIS, Scrubs, The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Melrose Place, or The World Series of Poker to name a few.

Yet the man is a crowd-pleaser, interacting like everyone was his old friend, spotlighting his back-up band, playing songs that included hard rockers to country-like ballads. A tough act to follow for anyone!
