Review: A Modern Armada’s single/video “Hero?” from the album Retaliation is Newtonian – Release date: January 2026
When you release a single piece of music as a single these days you simply just can’t rely on how good or interesting the song itself is but things like placement, streaming PR, and video are, no matter, how many pundits keep on telling us that since MTV music is gone, so is the importance of video.
With Detroit band’s A Modern Armada’s new single “Hero?” we have a great example of all these elements at work – Stefan Strychar, this song’s creator, seems to have all these elements at hand here – from a song’s acoustic intro into a post-punk/grunge main melody (after all, Strychar is a big fan of band’s like Meat Puppets and Tad), song’s placement, and an excellent collage video of old film sequences in which his partner, artist Tatiana Flis had a big part in, all indicate that the process behind preparing this breezy single was thought out and prepared well. Hopefully, it will bring Strychar and his band the rewards they deserve here.
