Bloodywood is arguably the most discussed metal band from the Indian metal music scene in recent times. The folk metal band from New Delhi, India is on their North America tour and performing at some of the biggest music festivals like – ‘Louder than Life’ and ‘Aftershock’. Rock at Night was present at the Baltimore Soundstage show on September 29, 2022, to witness the madness and the hype is absolutely real.

The night started at 8 PM with Iris Divine – a 3 member progressive metal band. They literary rocked the stage – when they started people started gathering and by the end, it was packed with people cheering for them. They created a rich and heavy sound that was perfect to start the night. Right after them, A Killer’s Confession took the stage. Led by the former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, they put up a performance that was not only heavy and loud but visually exciting as well. The audience was headbanging and jumping to the nu-metal sound of the band and finally, when they performed a cover of Sepultura’s “Roots Bloody Roots”, the excitement went to its peak.

Finally, around 10 PM Bloodywood took the stage with an announcement that the rap vocalist Raoul will not be able to perform due to health-related issues. But for the next hour, they absolutely killed it without even making anyone realize that they were one person less. Jayant with his growls and Hindi vocals just took control of the venue. Karan put up an absolutely stunning performance with his guitar. Kudos to Sarthak on Dhol, Roshan on Bass, and Vishesh on the drums – each of them were truly essential in creating the unique folk-rock sound that might be new to a lot of foreign audiences.

I was stunned to see audiences of Baltimore singing in Hindi with them when they performed one of their most famous track “Machi Bhasad (Expect a Riot)”. This proves how much popularity they have gained in recent times and hats off for that. Besides that, they also performed some of their other hits like – “Ari Ari”, “Dana-Dan”, “Gaddar” etc.

It was an absolutely perfect night for any metal heads. Bloodywood proved how indigenous music can be blended with metal to create a sound that is unique but close to the roots of both genres. I will recommend anyone to catch them for the rest of their tours in the USA or in the upcoming year in Europe. Also, watch out for the Rock At Night’s interview to find out  more about the band’s history and music-making process. Finally, a shoutout to Artist and Venue management for putting up this great show.
