Captures the moxie and attitude of 70s and 80s hard rock

Piston

For those of us that still are hanging onto our old classic rock albums, there appears to be a new generation rising that is capturing the moxie and attitude of 70s and 80s hard rock—Piston is one such band.  Piston’s self-titled debut album Piston is a chock full of hard rock gems that you can sink your teeth into!

Rob Angelico’s voice is full and raspy as he captures the flavor of both funk and blues-rock in “Rainmaker”.  Another song “Dynamite” favors catchy guitar riffs and a sing-a-along chorus, reminiscent of 80s Van Halen.  Good stuff, people!  “Go Now” has a catchy, earworm-worthy chorus and melody that will stay with you long after the album ends.

A real stand-out is “Carry Us Home”, a raspy ballad in the vein of Lynyrd Skynrd or Black Crowes. Think “Free Bird”, as this song soars with its full-blown rock chorus, harmonies, and lead guitar solos, masterfully played by Jack Edwards.

“Blow It Away” and “Into the Night” are both very strong and meaty morsels that satisfy.  “Let Us Rise” is a great anthem for the “every man or woman—something we all can relate to!

Overall, this is a solid album of fun and sleazy hard rock songs from a band we need to keep our eyes on.

Piston: Rob Angelico, Jack Edwards Luke Allatt, Stuart Egan, Brad Newlands
