The Sound of Music Festival is held annually on Father’s Day weekend in Burlington, Ontario Canada.  The festival is spread out along the waterfront in Spencer Smith Park as well as in the downtown core. The festival also includes a carnival with rides and more than enough food trucks to keep everyone fed.  This is the festivals 38th consecutive year and has become Canada’s largest free music festival.  This festival is organized and completely run by volunteers.

The week before the festival, Sound Of Music holds a paid Kick Off Concert to help pay for the free festival.  This year the Kick Off concert featured The Offspring, Live, Sumo Cyco, Killer Dwarfs, Spin Doctors, Smash Mouth and Marianas Trench.

The free festival features new and established Canadian talent on multiple stages and bars throughout the area over the entire week.  This year there were a couple of bands from overseas, The Mahones brought us their Irish punk and The Lazys brought their hard-hitting Rock from Australia.

Mother Nature co-operated with the festival for most of the weekend, with only a slight rain delay on Saturday.  Unfortunately, she did not hold off the rains on Sunday as the Headliner; Finger Eleven was cancelled due to heavy storms and the possible dangers associated with performing in those conditions.

Another very successful festival this year.  Again, I would like to that The Sound of Music and the organizers for allowing Rock At Night the opportunity to cover this great event.
