Islington Assembly Hall, London–November 29, 2016

Being the opening act for King King, Broken Witt Rebels (BWR) exploded onto the stage. Energetic right from the first song, trying to be worthy for what’s coming after, maybe, or just simply giving what is in there with full with passion and leaving a mark again and again with every song. We know them, I know them (from a previous gig), and they are top notch for sure. BWR were a great lead up for the upcoming band King King

King King, much as expected here by RAN, blew the mind of fans at Islington AH, one of the prestigious live music venues in London. The mood was cool and happy and what one could expect from a band who “is setting the blues world on fire” as Classic Rock says. As the fans being from all of ages–from teenagers to the retired ones–it can be easily said this band brings together the nation with their happy-blues.

This is a giant thing from a band who went on to be successful in such a few years (starting in 2009) and still it feels like a generation grew up on their songs since they won prestigious awards like the British Blues Awards.

The atmosphere is killing. Despite frontman/guitarist Alan Nimmo – mentioned of having some issues with his voice (which didn’t really show) – is improvising and improvising and I can’t help but enjoy the superb performance. The rhythm moved my feet, which doesn’t help me when I am taking photos. I am probably the only one having a hard time with this at the concert. Ha!

The audience was shouting, then Alan laughed saying something funny, then everyone laughed, then everyone (even the older ones) stood up clapping and singing along. The instruments faded and you could hear only the sound of the unplugged electric guitar strings in that nice big silent concert hall (“Stranger To Love”). This was undeniably the peak of the night! Then the rhythm and the volume turned up again producing a dashing frame of mind. And then encore played “We Let the Love In”—and that we did! King King was here. See you next time! Hopefully.
